With exception of a 5′ × 10′ space, the second floor is the main floor of the residence. This floor will host almost all of the needed space. This will allow me to shut down the 3rd floor if I don’t have anyone living with me. There will be stairs to get to the upper floor, as well as Elevator 2 which serves floors 2, 3, and roof.
Great Room
The Great Room will be the living and dining area all rolled into one. This section of the floor will be an open concept, and therefore provide a means of surveying the area as needed. The great room will have a space for a large TV. The space intended for the TV will have 1 coaxial jack, 5 ethernet jacks, and 3 gangs of electrical outlets. This will allow the TV space to have everything needed while meeting the space constraints of an apartment style living.
Home Office
The Home Office will support my day to day business role needs. This will include everything from budgeting to tending bills, and handling anything else that I would want a quiet place to do my work. The home office will have a desk, desk phone, and a multi-function center for printing documents, envelopes, and sending outgoing faxes for when it is better to fax physical documents then sending .pdfs to the fax server.
Kitchen
The kitchen will be as large as necessary to function. I am not in the hobby of cooking, so I will likely rely a lot on simple things. There will be a refrigerator, stove with a glass cooktop. This will provide for electric cooking only. There will be a sink, and a dishwasher. However, there will be some counter space, but not too much as again, I want to make the kitchen functional, and not take more space than necessary.
Lavatory
There is little to say here. A toilet, and a sink. Having a lavatory on this floor will allow people to use the toilet without having to go upstairs, or invade my privacy for the primary bathroom.
Outdoor Space
The roof of the garage will be a flat room and will offer some outdoor space for the family. The space is small at only 625sf, but this more space than some of the backyards I lived with in the city of Pittsburgh. Since this outdoor space is on the second floor, this would allow for more privacy. The space will be grass.
Primary Bathroom
The Primary Bathroom will have a toilet, double sink, bathtub, and a shower stall. This will allow me, or my significant other the ability to decide what they prefer. I will likely take showers, and will shave and brush my teeth in the shower. With that in mind, I will likely only use the bathroom sink for washing my hands.
Primary Bedroom
The Primary Bedroom is the bedroom where I will sleep. It would have a minimum of two means of egress. There is also a locked fire stairs to exit the building in the case of a fire. The sprinkler system will likely save the residence.
