One might just think about “cold” and “hot” water. However, in this building, it will be so much more. There is also sewage which most people don’t think about unless something goes wrong. However, in addition to that, there will be heating lines, and a fire sprinkler system. Most of the plumbing lines will run in the center of the building – therefore eliminating the issues of freezing. For drinking water, there will be a filtration system to filter the water, and an osmosis system to kill anything left. This will assure that the water is as clean or cleaner than bottled water. The color codes are as follows:
- Black: Sewage
- Blue: Cold Water
- Clear: Snow Melt System
- Orange: Fire Sprinkler
- Red: Hot Water
- White: City
Utilities
PWSA (Pittsburgh Water and Sewage Authority) is the provider for water and sewage services for the entire city of Pittsburgh. There will be 3 lines, and 1 extra line for the sprinkler system that would be significant savings when compared to the option of regular use billing. The lines will be for each unit, and the common spacing including providing for in-ground radiant heating.
