Elevators

There will be 2 elevators. One elevator is the public elevator. This elevator will go to the following floors:

  • Basement (key)
  • First Floor
  • First Floor – Rear Door (key)
  • Second Floor

This elevator will be what most of the public will use, and almost all of the time, it will be to traverse between floor 1 and floor 2. The floors that require key access is restricted from the public having access to. There is only 1 residence unit in the building, so there will likely not be much in the way of traffic. The elevator room will be located in the basement.

The second elevator will be located in the residence. This elevator will serve the following floors:

  • Second Floor
  • Third Floor
  • Roof (key)

This elevator is within the residence of the building, and intended to provide for a means for someone that is disabled or elderly to go to the different floors without having to use stairs. This is not a laziness issue, but a safety issue. An able bodied person will likely be able to traverse the the floors in the same time, or less than with an elevator.

Utilities

Both elevators will require electricity, and telephone. The telephone is for the elevator call box, and intended to provide for a means of emergency communication if something went wrong with the elevator while someone was in it. This is a required by law feature, and unfortunately elevator companies hadn’t stayed up with technology, and will provide an RJ11 port for telephony communications even though Verizon no longer supports copper line telephone service. This will require a connection to an ATA, or a connection to FXS ports on a telephony server. Neither of these options are good, and promotes continuing to use obsolete technology. This however is required for legal operation.
