RJ11 is the jack that you would typically find for home telephone service. However, this copper line needs to be supported. Verizon (the telephone company in Pittsburgh) will not support copper lines for new accounts, or anyone that moves. Since there is no support for copper line telephone service, there is no need for an RJ11 jack. Simply put, it will be a waste of resources that could be devoted for something that is more practical and more viable. If there was a need to interact with an obsolete connection such as the elevator, or fax line, then an Analog Telephone Adapter will be used. The device plugs into the ATA, and the ATA plugs into the network line. Once the ATA is properly configured, everything will work just as if there was an RJ11 connection.
